Snow day fun!

Last Thursday we were pummeled with about 12 inches of powdery snow.

Almost everything closed down even UPS.  Thankful for the angels at the cancer center who stayed and let me have chemo in the middle of the terrible weather.  Thankful for my UPS man that was able to drive me to and from safely.

Last night we received round two which dropped another 8-10 inches on us.   The news reported that if this snow wasn't so wet we would have easily received 15 inches this morning.

Most of the city shut down and people stayed home. Again UPS closed for the 2nd time that we can ever remember.

So what else do you do on a snow day but, play in the snow!  It took us nearly 20 minutes to get the girls swaddled up enough to brave the elements.  Last time it snowed Alayna only lasted a few minutes due to her hands getting cold and wet.  I double wrapped her in mittens, baggies, then a pair of my mittens to keep her hands warm.  Thankfully it worked and we were able to play outside for about an hour.

Dariya absolutely LOVES the snow and was giddy with delight.

She was a crack up, army crawling through the snow, throwing snowballs and tasting the snow.  Of course, we will have to teach her that you don't play ostrich in the snow!

Our littlest princess likes to hang out and watch all the snowballs going by.  When the war between her siblings starts she moves out of the way and makes sure she still looks cute for the camera.
She tried to make snow angels but the snow was too wet and heavy for her little self to move.

and finally the king of the snowballs had a blast making sure no one in the family was left out of the fight.

Can't think of a better way to spend a snow day than giggling with my family.

I am so blessed!

Praying for the families without power and that the streets don't refreeze tonight.

Life moves fast

Life with young kids is always fast paced.
Add in my treatments (and downtime from those) and our poor blog has taken a big hit, not to mention my housework, scrap booking, etc....

I am spending less and less time online and instead try to focus on the kids since we loose a few days a month to my tiredness from chemo.

So in case I have anyone who is still following and reading along here is a quick update on what we have been up to lately.

We celebrated Dariya turning 5.  She continues to amaze us with new skills each day.  In fact, this week she showed me that she knows how to correctly do patterning.  She is one smart and sweet cookie.
Jason's mom came to stay with us for two weeks.  I felt horrible as it was a week I had chemo then had strep throat at the end of the week.  I was just starting to perk back up when it was time for her to head back. We were thrilled she was able to meet Dariya and spend some time with her.  She of course, absolutely loved her!

We are trying to savor each moment with the kids.  They all seem to be growing up so fast.

Alayna and Ms. Juanita
I went to the girls Valentines party at preschool.  They had a great time and got totally sugared up.
Alayna woke up at 2 am and turned her light on and was standing on her bed with a pillow in her hands.  When I asked her what she was doing she replied, "pillow fight!"  UGH!
Dariya and Miss Liz
We have played games, read loads of books (the girls are reading nicely now, video coming soon), and done fun crafts.
At school conferences, we had great reports from the teachers on all the kids.  However, one blonde haired 4 year old is still a stinker and won't show all her skills at school!  God bless her teachers as I am worried they will be as bald as me by the end of the year.   Thankful they know how smart she is and push her continually.   Praying that she overcomes this and soars in school.

Aidan is always on the go, playing with his friends, reading loads of books, and excited to get his braces off in a couple weeks.

The kids are out until next Tuesday for conferences and Presidents day.  Alayna is hoping the weather warms up as she has been asking daily to go to the zoo.

So maybe that will be our next outing....stay tuned.

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy 5th birthday. Dariya!

Dariya,
I am grateful that you are in our family.

You are one in a million with a giggle that is contagious and have been dubbed the "best hugger" around.
You have come so far in such a short time, there is no stopping to be found.

I think of where you could have been today instead and it makes my heart ache.
A cold institution with no celebration, friends, presents or cake.

God blessed us all when he brought us together and changed our lives for the better.

May you know today and always how important you are.
We celebrate you as a princess by far.

A daughter, a sister, a cherished little girl
happiness now is out of this world.

Happy 5th birthday sweet Dariya,
We love you no end....
xoxo

A fun night at the kids museum

When Aidan was little he and I used to visit the children's museum weekly and he absolutely loved it.

I haven't worked myself up to get brave enough to tackle taking the girls there by myself yet.  So, when our sweet friend invited us for their church's museum night we were very excited to go and try it out.  We loaded all of us up, Nannie included and headed out for a couple hours.

The girls checked out a couple rooms but, quickly honed in on the "ball room" which was always Aidan's favorite.  Guess it runs in the family.  They (Aidan included, he was on the other side building ramps with the bigger kids) played with the golf balls and jumps and ramps nearly the whole time we were there.

Dariya and Daddy race on the ski jump.  Here she is doing  a little "I beat daddy" dance

Alayna cheers herself on as she shows Nannie how it's done.
I foresee a membership again in our future....
